Applesauce Cake

2 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon allspice
1/2 teaspoon freshly grated nutmeg
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 teaspoon ginger
1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 cup shortening
3/4 cup water
1/2 cup chopped nuts
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups applesauce
Powdered sugar

Sift flour, allspice, nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Set aside. Bring sugar, shortening, water and nuts to a boil; remove from heat. Add baking soda, baking powder, flour mixture and applesauce. Pour into a prepared 9x13-inch glass baking pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35 to 40 minutes. Cool and top Applesauce Cake recipe with powdered sugar.
